10 Lessons From 10+ Years in the Furniture Industry

Insights From a Decade of Craftsmanship, Creativity, and Growth:

Over a decade in the furniture industry has taught us countless lessons—some insightful, some challenging, and others downright funny. From designing custom high-end tables to transitioning into e-commerce with our children’s furniture brand, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Here are the ten (10) most valuable lessons we’ve learned, shaped by experience, our team, and our customers.

1. You’ll Never Stop Learning About Materials

The furniture industry keeps you on your toes. One day, you’re testing hardwood durability; the next, you’re experimenting with stain-resistant fabrics for kids. Foam density, fabric weaves, wood grain—the details matter. Staying curious and open to new materials has helped us stay ahead in both luxury design and kid-friendly furniture.

Pro Tip: Quality materials that stand the test of time are just as crucial in children’s furniture as they are in luxury pieces.

2. Patience Is a Superpower

Delays are inevitable in the furniture business—think supply chain disruptions or production bottlenecks. Over the years, we’ve learned that patience, paired with clear communication, turns potential disasters into minor hiccups. Our team has mastered the art of managing expectations, keeping projects moving, and keeping customers informed.

3. Transitioning From Luxury to Kid-Friendly Design Requires Creativity

Designing for luxury is about refinement; designing for kids is about imagination. Our team had to rethink everything when we shifted focus to children’s furniture—how do you create something that’s fun, functional, durable, and beautiful? This challenge pushed us to innovate and led to some of our favorite designs to date.

4. The Road Teaches Resilience

We’ve driven thousands of miles at the drop of a hat to deliver prototypes, meet clients, and solve problems. Once, we loaded an 18-foot dining table into our trailer and towed it across the country—in the snow—to meet a designer on a tight deadline. Our team’s willingness to go the extra mile (literally) has been instrumental in building trust and long-lasting relationships.

5. Furniture Is More Than Functional

A couch isn’t just for sitting – it’s for family movie nights, curling up with our favorite books, and dreaming big ideas. Over the years, we’ve seen how deeply furniture connects to life’s milestones, and that understanding has shaped how we approach every piece we design. For our team, knowing the stories behind our furniture is a constant source of inspiration.

6. Adaptability Is Key

The furniture world is ever-changing, from design trends to technology. When we pivoted to e-commerce, our team embraced the shift wholeheartedly—learning digital tools, rethinking logistics, and helping us connect directly with families. Being flexible has been our greatest strength.

7. Quality Over Perfection

Perfection may be unattainable, but quality is always achievable. Our team’s dedication to crafting durable, safe, and beautiful pieces has earned us trust and loyalty over the years. Whether it’s a kids’ couch or a luxury table, we prioritize quality in every detail.

8. Collaboration Fuels Creativity

Working with interior designers, architects, and now our own in-house team has shown us the power of collaboration. Some of our best ideas have come from brainstorming with employees or listening to customers’ feedback. Our team thrives on collective creativity, and it shows in every piece we produce.

Did You Know? Our first kid’s couch design came straight from the playroom of our founders’ kids!

9. You Have to Laugh to Stay Sane

From a delivery that got stuck in a service elevator during a commercial setup to a delivery truck full of finished goods breaking down halfway across the country, there have been moments so chaotic you couldn’t help but laugh. These stories, while stressful at the time, have become shared memories that bring our team closer and what makes our team feel more like a family—we laugh through the challenges and come out stronger.

10. Passion Fuels Perseverance

Every piece we create reflects the passion of our team. Through the long hours, road trips, and endless problem-solving, our shared love for creating beautiful, functional furniture keeps us going. It’s not just about the products; it’s about the joy and comfort they bring to families.

Building a Legacy, One Piece at a Time

Over ten years in the furniture industry, we’ve learned lessons that go far beyond craftsmanship. With a dedicated team and a passion for creating meaningful designs, we’re excited to continue this journey—building spaces where families can thrive.
